Jesus of Nazareth lived around 2,000 years ago.
His life has shaped world history like that of no other person.
For Christians, however, Jesus is far more than an important teacher or a good role model.
They believe that Jesus is the Christ, the Saviour promised by God.
Jesus is the Son of God.
The Bible tells us that Jesus was born to the virgin Mary and lived among people as a human being.
He healed the sick, helped people, forgave sins and spoke about God and his kingdom.
He lived without sin and did the will of God in everything.
But Jesus did not come merely to teach people.
He came to save them – that is, to reconcile them to God for eternity.
