CELEBRATION – What do we want to celebrate in 2033?

C stands for Celebration – a celebration.

“Celebration” is the English word for a special occasion or feast.

Christians celebrate because Jesus is alive.

The first Christians testified that Jesus rose bodily from the dead on the third day. His disciples encountered him. They saw him, spoke with him and ate with him. They were convinced: Death had not defeated Jesus. No – Jesus had defeated death.

The resurrection is at the very heart of the Christian faith.

According to traditional dating, the year 2033 marks the 2,000th anniversary of Jesus' resurrection.

That is a special reason to remember, to celebrate and to give glory to God.

In 2033, Christians around the world want to celebrate the resurrection of Jesus.

But not in the same way everywhere.

People celebrate in different cultures, languages and traditions. Some will celebrate in large gatherings, others in small groups, in their churches, at home or in public places. Some can celebrate openly and freely; others are persecuted and may only be able to celebrate in secret.

The forms may be very different.

But the reason is the same: Jesus Christ is risen.
