Around 2,000 years ago, something happened in Jerusalem that continues to shape world history to this day.
Jesus of Nazareth was crucified and died.
For Christians, his death was not simply the tragic death of an important person.
They believe that Jesus willingly gave his life to reconcile people with God.
Jesus himself had prepared his disciples for his death.
And he had also announced that he would rise again.
